Eligibility for Luxembourg Student Visa 

To qualify for a Luxembourg student visa, you must meet the following criteria:

  1. Enrollment Proof: Show enrollment as a full-time student at a Luxembourg university.
  2. Financial Means: Demonstrate sufficient funds to support yourself throughout your stay.
  3. Tuition Fee Payment: Provide evidence of full payment of tuition fees.
  4. Temporary Authorization to Stay: Obtain a letter granting temporary stay in Luxembourg.
  5. Health Insurance: Secure health insurance coverage for the entire duration of your stay.

Requirements for Luxembourg Student Visa

Essential documents include:

  1. Complete and sign the application form, dated by the applicant.
  2. Provide three recent passport-sized color photographs with a white background. Paste one photo on the form, another on a copy of the form, and submit the third photo along with the application.
  3. Submit a national passport valid for at least 6 months from the travel date to Luxembourg, with at least 2 blank pages available. Also, include a copy of the passport’s data page.
  4. Include a copy of the confirmed ticket to Luxembourg or a reservation confirmation.
  5. Provide the original Authorization to Stay issued by the Immigration Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Luxembourg.
  6. Include a police clearance (casier judiciaire) with Apostille authentication.
  7. Submit a birth certificate with Apostille authentication.
  8. Obtain overseas medical travel insurance valid for all Schengen countries for a minimum duration of 3 months and minimum coverage of 30,000 Euros for all risks like accidents, urgent medical attention, emergency hospital treatment, and repatriation. However, this insurance is not required if the applicant can prove coverage through future employer/spouse/family member (e.g., certificate from “Caisse Nationale de Santé”).
  1. Provide a letter of acceptance from the university or proof of admittance in a higher education institution (original).
  2. Include a parental authorization if the student is under 18 years old.
  3. Ensure medical/repatriation insurance covers the entire stay period.
  4. Provide proof of adequate financial resources during studies, covering residence and return charges. Resources should be at least 80% of the guaranteed minimum income in Luxembourg (Guaranteed social minimum is 1,025.25 € as of January 1, 2013). Proof can be provided through a scholarship certificate, student loan documentation indicating the allocated amount and duration, bank attestation, or financial statement of support (prise en charge financière pour étudiant).

Please be advised that the listed documents are not exhaustive. Additional documents may be requested as per individual circumstances. Visa applicants might also be summoned for a personal interview at the Embassy of Luxembourg in New Delhi.

Before entering Luxembourg:

  1. Apply for a visa within 90 days of receiving valid authorization.
  2. Submit your visa application to the Immigration Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.
  3. Apply for a Type D visa.

Upon arrival:

  1. Declare your arrival.
  2. Undergo a medical checkup.
  3. Apply for a residence permit.
