How to Apply for a Malaysia Student Visa Approval Letter (VAL)

You can apply via the Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) website or through your university. Gather required documents, create an EMGS account, upload electronic copies, and pay the processing fee and personal security bond. Upon approval, print the Visa Approval Letter (VAL).

Malaysian Entry Visa for Foreign Students

Certain nationals require a Visa With Reference for a Student Pass, authorized by the Malaysian Immigration Department.

How to Apply for a Malaysian Student Entry Visa

Apply in person at a Malaysia Representative Office abroad or online for Indian nationals. Provide necessary documents, including passport, Malaysia visa application form, and VAL.

Upon Arrival in Malaysia

Appear before immigration officers with printed VAL and entry visa. Register at the educational institution and undergo a medical screening within seven days at an EMGS-registered clinic.

Malaysia Student Pass and i-Kad

Malaysia Student Pass Processing Time

From VAL application to Student Pass receipt, the process takes 4-6 weeks. VAL processing time is 14 days, and entry visa processing varies from one to three weeks.

Duration of Malaysia Student Pass

Validity depends on the course: 6 months for language school, 1 year for most courses (renewable), and for some, valid for the entire course duration.
