Ukraine Student Visa Requirements
Students planning to study medicine or dentistry in Ukraine require a long-stay visa (type D), allowing them to stay in the country for more than 90 days.
Here’s a guide to applying for a long-stay visa in Ukraine:
Applying for a Long-Stay Visa in Ukraine
To obtain a long-stay visa (type D), prospective students must submit a set of documents to the consulate or embassy of Ukraine in their home country. The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs website provides a full list of embassy locations and contact details.
Regardless of where the documents are submitted, the original “Invitation to study” is always required. It’s important to note that documents from previous education must be officially certified before submission to the consulate. This can be done by either legalizing them through the Ministry of Education and Science, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Embassy of Ukraine or certifying them with an Apostille stamp and legalizing them at the Embassy of Ukraine in the applicant’s country. These steps ensure that the documents are officially recognized in Ukraine, allowing Ukrainian universities to issue diploma certificates upon graduation.
All “Invitations to study” issued by universities undergo mandatory registration at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine before being issued to applicants. The Ministry provides official confirmation of such registration (visa support) to the Consulate of Ukraine in respective countries. Without this registration, consulates cannot proceed with issuing student visas.
Once an invitation letter is received, students must contact the Ukrainian embassy in their own country to apply for the student visa.
